Gmail recently put in place certain measures that its users must perform before accessing their email via third party email clients. What does this mean for Distributed Source users? If you\u2019d like to integrate your Gmail account in order to send emails from Distributed Source via your Gmail account, you\u2019d have to do one of the two:<\/p>\n

1. Setup 2-Step Verification for your Gmail account and generate an App Password for Distributed Source that can be used as password while setting up the Gmail SMTP integration.<\/p>\n

2. Simply provide access to less secure apps<\/a> and use your Gmail account password in Distributed Source while setting up the Gmail SMTP integration.<\/p>\n

We recommend the first option. If you\u2019re not sure how to generate an App Password, here are instructions to do so.<\/p>\n

Generating an App Password<\/h2>\n

Login into your Gmail account and open this page: https:\/\/myaccount.google.com\/security<\/a><\/p>\n

Under the section \u201cSigning in to Google\u201c, check to make sure 2-Step Verification is turned on. If not, please follow instructions on this page: https:\/\/www.google.com\/landing\/2step\/<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

In the \u2018Google Account Security\u2019 page opened as mentioned above, under \u2018Signing in to Google\u2019, click on \u2018App Passwords\u2019.<\/p>\n

Enter your account password if it prompts you.<\/p>\n

In the new \u2018App Passwords\u2019 page, click the \u2019Select App\u2019 dropdown and click on \u2018Other (Custom name)\u2019 and enter \u2018Distributed Source\u2019. Click on the \u2018Generate\u2019 button next to it.<\/p>\n

Enter ‘Distributed Source’ and click on ‘Generate’<\/p><\/div>\n

In the new popup titled \u2018Generated app password\u2019 shown on the screen, click on the generated password highlighted in yellow color and copy it. Then, click on Done.<\/p>\n

Using the App Password to setup Gmail SMTP integration in Distributed Source<\/h2>\n

Open Distributed Source in a new tab and log in to your account.<\/p>\n

Open this URL to visit the \u2018Emails\u2019 section of the Settings page: https:\/\/my.distributedsource.com\/crm#settings\/emails<\/a><\/p>\n

Click on \u2018Email Integration\u2019 among the 3 tabs in the page opened.<\/p>\n

Hover over the Gmail box and click on \u2018SMTP\u2019.<\/p>\n

Open the ‘Email Integration’ tab, hover over the Gmail section and click on ‘SMTP’<\/p><\/div>\n

Enter your Gmail login address under \u2018Username\u2019 and paste\u00a0the generated App Password under \u2018Password\u2019. Click on \u2018Next\u2019.<\/p>\n

Select one or multiple email addresses that belong to the Gmail account you generated the password for (usually just your Gmail login address). Click on \u2018Create\u2019.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s it! You can now send emails from Distributed Source that go via Gmail. These emails will show up in the \u2018Sent\u2019 section of your Gmail account and will also improve deliverability of emails to your leads or clients.<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>: After you\u2019ve completed this, if you\u2019ve setup Inbound Email integration<\/a> for the same address, you will automatically get an added advantage. When you get a notification for an inbound email that is forwarded to Distributed Source and you click on it, Distributed Source will automatically mark the email as \u2018read\u2019 in your Gmail inbox. This will help you save time by making sure that you don\u2019t go through emails in Gmail that you\u2019ve already seen Distributed Source.<\/p>\n
